I took a carving class from Harvey Welch in the winter of 2016. It was great and I came away with a new talent and a life size carving of a chickadee - carved from a wood called tupelo.
This piece was given to my father for his 85th birthday.
I have been carving avocado pits. When the two halves of the pit stay together I am able to create something like the frog which I mounted on a rock. When the pit splits into two halves I carve items that can be made into jewellery.

I had so much fun in the winter of 2018 taking a class from Paul Perron learning how to carve whimsical houses from cottonwood bark.
